The Benefits of Group Piano Lessons

Group teen piano lesson Learning to play the piano is learning to become a musician. A good musician knows how to read notes and rhythms independently and can maintain their own part an ensemble.

During group piano lessons, we learn strong musicianship skills through movement, singing, games, and writing activities.

In a group setting, students play in what can be referred to as a piano band. Many pianists go on to play

for choirs and soloists without the training necessary to play with other musicians. In group piano lessons, everyone plays in an ensemble, thus building the skills needed for strong solo playing and accompanying. Because you have multiple keyboards each student can choose a different voice for their part which helps them better hear the different parts.

Pianists often suffer from performance anxiety. In group piano lessons, students play for one another frequently in a safe, supported environment, thus reducing the cause of anxiety in advanced pianists. Everyone has an opportunity to perform what they have been working on for the class. It serves as a great motivator for the students to practice as they know they will get to perform at the very next class.

Parental participation keeps the parents aware of their progress. Since they are learning along with the student, they are able to support them throughout the week as they practice at home.

Harmony Road Courses are group lessons that include parent involvement in each lesson ensuring clear understanding for both parent and child. Harmony Road's comprehensive music programs get children off to a great start and grow with them ... year after year.

A contemporary group musicianship course focused on developing musical awareness and understanding through:
     Solfege singing and ear training
     Rhythmic activities and movement
     Keyboard discovery and playing
     Creative activities and composing.

     Toddlers (18 months) to age 3
     Age 3 to 4
     Age 4.5 to 6

Violin Lessons

Private Violin lessons are currently available from Sarah Wakefield. She has been playing from age 3 and played with the Boise Youth Symphony for years.
